Adult Ministries

Prosper UMC offers numerous opportunities for Bible study, personal spiritual growth, education, fellowship, service, mission work, and community outreach. We invite you to become a part of our church family!  The following is a listing of regular activities underway at Prosper UMC. Please feel free to contact any of the listed facilitators and contacts for information and details. Other short-term small groups are formed throughout the year and advertised throughout the website.

Bible Study

Sunday Night Adult Bible Study:
Sundays at 5:00pm. Group meets in the Fellowship Hall.

Page Turners Women’s Bible Study:
Wednesdays at 5:30pm. Group meets in room E4.
The current study is “Grace, Not Perfection” by Emily Ley.

True Grit Men’s Bible Study:
Wednesdays, 11:45am. The group meets for lunch at Rudy’s in Frisco.

Sunday School Classes

Location: Church Annex
Time: 9:45 – 10:45am
Description: For ages 20-40, co-ed single, dating, engaged, or married adults (newborns & infants welcome) studying the Bible with real-life applications

GIFT (Growing In Faith Together)
Location: Church Basement
Time: 9:45 – 10:45am
Description: A class for adults of all ages. Currently studying “When God doesn’t fix it: Lessons You Never Wanted to Learn, Truth’s You Can’t Live Without.” Led by Chuck & Cindy Stuber.

Faith Weavers
Location: Fellowship Hall
Time: 9:45 – 10:45am
Description: This spring, our lessons focus on ways God’s people have acknowledged the greatness of their God. The quarter begins with guidance for following God. Then, with Easter, the quarter turns to ways Jesus provided a channel for giving God glory and honor. The quarter concludes with a look at times when the Hebrew people sang praises to God. The student book author is Michelle Morris. The author of the teacher book is Clara Welch.

Service and Community Outreach

Bethlehem Place Community Food Pantry: Located on the church property, opens weekly to offer food and various goods to the Prosper community. Special programs throughout the year are also supported by church volunteers and donations, including as Thanksgiving Basket distribution and Angel Tree. Contact: Diane Galloway at 469-296-8877.

Stephen Ministry:  Members of our congregation provide one-on-one Christian care for those experiencing difficulties in life. Contacts:  Lynn Lish or Jamie Barnhardt

Feed My Sheep:  A small group ministry focused on building relationships with the clients of Bethlehem Place and others in the community by hosting a monthly picnic with good food and fellowship for the adults and fun games and crafts for the children that attend.  Contact: Shelly Foster

DivorceCare: A support group and class for adults currently experiencing divorce.  Contact: Lance Rickets

United Methodist Women (UMW): A community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.  This group of Christian women, with their many gifts, is unified by one spirit to participate in God’s mission in all areas of life.  All women are invited to attend this group and enjoy a great time together of fellowship and learning.  The local unit meets the first Monday of each month at 7:00pm.  New members are always welcome.  For more information about UMW, please contact:


Prosper 50:  Prosper 50 is a group of adults aged 50 and older who meet monthly for food, fellowship and a variety of activities.  All community members aged 50 and older are welcome to attend Prosper 50 meetings.  Prosper 50 is held the 4th Tuesday of every month, except the summer months (June, July, August) and December at the First Baptist Church in Prosper.  The meal is “Pot Luck” where members provide meat,  side dishes, dessert and beverages.  The program is at 11AM and lunch is served at Noon.  Dues are 50 cents per person when you join.

Senior Dinner: There is a monthly Senior Dinner held the 2nd Thursday of every month at various local churches.   Your presence is all that’s required!
