“The Mission LIVE @ Cockrell” Returns September 7th

Prosper UMC announced today that The Mission will begin weekly worship services on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 10:13 a.m. at Cockrell Elementary School, 1075 Escalante Trail in Prosper, under the direction of Rev. Melissa Hatch. The Mission is a campus of Prosper United Methodist Church that offers contemporary worship, featuring live music for all ages. Professional childcare for nursery age and preschoolers is provided.

Pastor Melissa is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Master of Divinity Degree from Brite Divinity School in Fort Worth. She has more than 10 years of ministry experience, including work with college students, young adults and singles. Her passion for serving at The Mission is fueled by the desire to create opportunities for Prosper families to connect with God through a community of faith.

“The Mission experience is uncommon in that it combines a relaxed ‘coffeehouse’ atmosphere with great music and a relevant message. This makes for an inviting place to connect, interact and serve. I am so very excited to begin this journey,” said Hatch.

The Mission’s Worship Team features Mason Morrison as its leader. He plays the bass and acoustic guitar and is an accomplished musician who has played the piano since age four. His voice has been described as one to “melt butter.” Band members JD Sanders and Vaughn Hines round out the group’s musical team.

The Mission’s first event of the season is a Tea and Fashion Show, a fundraiser for Clothe-a-Child, hosted on Sept. 14, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children 12-and-under. The annual Clothe-a-Child drive serves the clothing needs of local children, grades K through 8, with back-to-school clothing essentials. The Tea and Fashion Show is a premier event this year, with the entire price of the ticket will be directly donated to Clothe-a-Child. Children attending the event are encouraged to wear their favorite back-to-school outfit and be a “shining star” in the Fashion Show. For details or to purchase tickets, contact Wendy Parrish at
