Pause. Pray. Read. Be still. Write. Pray. Go about your day or turn in for the night.
Read: Psalm 63:1-8
There are many scriptures that fill my soul so abundantly when I read it, and Psalm 63 is one of them.
The words of David remind us of the importance of seeking God earnestly and praising Him with all our hearts. When we can express our deep longing for God, as David so eloquently voices, we recognize where true satisfaction and fulfillment is found, especially if we are thirsting for a spiritual well. David knew this feeling all too well, and he knew his only remedy, was to seek God with his whole heart, mind, and soul.
Be still: Have you ever felt spiritually dry, like a parched land, thirsting for the spring rains? Have you longed for God’s presence and recognized seeking God as the source of true satisfaction for your life. As you reread and reflect on these words, ask yourself: do you truly believe that God’s love is better than anything the world can offer? Sit with these thoughts for a moment. Then offer words of praise and thanksgiving with all your heart, trusting that in God’s unfailing love you will find solace in the shadow of God’s wings.
Prayer: O God, you are my God, I seek you, my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is not water. Come, fill my cup to overflowing, so that my soul will be replenished with the well-spring of life. Amen.
