Pause. Pray. Read. Be still. Write. Pray. Go about your day or turn in for the night.
Read: 1 Peter 5: 1-5; 12-14
Peter is encouraging the elders to shepherd God’s people with humility, reminding them that being boastful with arrogant pride, is in direct opposition for how they are to lead. This text calls us to reflect on the significance of humility in our own life. Humility opens avenues for us to effectively serve others, just as the leaders of the church care for God’s flock. Embracing your imperfections, knowing there are no perfect beings, only Christ, and accepting your limitations, is a healthy attitude to embrace. Remember, cultivating humility is a lifelong journey. One that requires continuous self-reflection, a desire to learn, and willingness to put others before yourself.
Be Still: How do you embrace humility as you serve others? Do you practice active listening? Listening to hear to understand their perspective instead of responding assuming you know best. Reflect on your own limitations and share them with God.
Prayer: Creating God, thank you for the gifts you have given me. Help me to discover more of who you’ve created me to be with each new day. Open my heart and mind to the presence of your Holy Spirit, strengthen me to embrace humility in listening so that in all ways I may glorify you. Amen
