Thursday, October 19, 2023:
Pause. Pray. Read. Be still. Write. Pray. Go about your day or turn in for the night.
Read: Exodus 33:7-11
Moses talked face to face with God in the Tent of Meeting that he pitched outside of the camp. He spoke with the Lord as a man speaks with a friend. And thus, Moses found favor with the Lord.
That friendship appeared out of reach for Moses’ fellow Israelites as they only stood outside their tent and watched from afar. However, it is not out of reach for us today. Jesus calls us to be his friends.
Be still and Reflect: How can you mirror the conversations and close friendship you have with another in the quiet time you spend with Jesus? If you have not already done so, when can you set time apart from activities to sit quietly and be with him?
Pray:
Almighty God, I am stepping away from the busyness of the day to be alone with You and to seek Your face. I desperately need this time with You and apart from all that demands my attention. Forgive me for neglecting our friendship; and speak while I sit quietly and listen. Reveal to me the deeper wisdom of your ways and your will. In the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, Amen.
