Tuesday, October 17, 2023:
Pause. Pray. Read. Be still. Write. Pray. Go about your day or turn in for the night.
Read: Philippians 3:13-16
Paul reminds us to avoid complacency or satisfaction with our current spiritual state, but always to strive to grow more in our relationship with Jesus Christ. He warns us not to be influenced by those who live as enemies of the cross but to press on toward the goal of becoming increasingly Christ-like in our thoughts and actions. That process is a life-long one known as sanctification (the action or process of being freed from sin or purified), made possible only by the sanctifying grace of God.
Be still and Reflect: Where are you on the continuum of cultivating a growing relationship with Christ? To what extent are you engaged in worship, spiritual practices, study of the Scripture, being generous with your time and resources, or reaching out to extend God’s love in your community? What is one step you can take today to move closer to modeling the image of Christ in your world?
Pray: Lord Jesus, the Author and Finisher of my faith, thank you for saving me. Thank you for enabling me to grow and serve you however, whenever, and wherever you call me to shine the light of your love.
Free me from a “scarcity mindset” and its fears that I don’t have enough – enough abilities, wisdom, time, or resources – to conquer the overwhelming challenges, injustices, or oppressive forces that seek to hinder or hold me back from your kingdom purposes. Instead, strengthen my resolve to grow and press forward as your image-bearer to love and care for those you entrust into my care, so that we all flourish and bring glory to your name. Amen.
