Tuesday, October 3, 2023:
Pause. Pray. Read. Be still. Write. Pray. Go about your day or turn in for the night.
Read: Exodus 18:13-27
In this Scripture, Moses’ father-in-law, Jethro, encourages Moses to delegate some of his governing responsibilities to other capable men.
The value of delegating when and where we can…
• prevents us from getting overwhelmed or burdened by our responsibilities;
• creates margin for us to rest and recharge;
• creates space for us to learn and grow in other areas; and
• helps others to grow into the full potential God created in them.

Be still and Reflect: How and where might delegating a task or responsibility benefit you? Who in your sphere of influence has the values and potential for you to train and help grow by assuming that task or responsibility?
Pray: Lord God, who created us for purpose and equipped me with skills to accomplish it, call my attention to when I act as if I am indispensable and the only one who can do the tasks needed. Instead, Lord, help me to discern when and where I need to pass along my learning, to delegate, instruct and equip others so that we can work as one, bearing the burdens together.
As I do, Lord, help me to serve as a leader who is not controlling but empowering. Enable me to entrust others with those responsibilities and tasks that they can do while I focus my time and attention on those that require my abilities and experience. As Jesus passed on authority to his disciples, let me do likewise so that Your kingdom might grow exponentially. Amen.
