Read: James 2:14-26
James, most likely the brother of Jesus, wrote to God’s people who were dispersed in a world that did not follow God’s ways. He reminded his readers—and us—that faith without works is dead. Faith and works are interconnected; they co-exist, and we cannot have one without the other. Faith is the root; works are the fruit that comes forth out of being rooted in faith.
Be still and Reflect: How do you show your faith in God through your actions and deeds?
Pray: Heavenly Father, You consistently manifest Your love for us throughout creation. We believe that…but help our unbelief. Deepen the roots of faith and trust in You so that we boldly and confidently step forward, obedient to whatever work You call us to do to advance Your kingdom here on earth. Inspire us to work with excellence; to give sacrificially and generously of the resources You put at our disposal, and to extend a helping hand in ways that will promote healing whether physical or spiritual. Help us in faith to reflect the love and friendship that our Lord Jesus Christ unconditionally extended to us. In his name we pray, Amen.
