Thursday, November 2, 2023:
Pause. Pray. Read. Be still. Write. Pray. Go about your day or turn in for the night.
Read: Joshua 1:1-11
In God’s plan, Moses’ call and role was to lead the Israelites out of bondage and prepare them for the Promised Land…but not to lead them into it. The Lord handed off that task to Moses’ successor, Joshua.
God often calls us to serve as the next link in a long chain of hand-offs from one person to another, from one leader to another, or from one generation to another. As we step into that call, we succeed to the extent we go with total dependence on and obedience to God.
Be still and Reflect: As we approach the end of 2023 and prepare to enter 2024, where has or is the Lord calling you to take the hand-off of work or a role from another? How will you proceed forward?
Pray:
Almighty God, I hear Your call. I go, assured of Your faithfulness to Your truths and promises, depending only on Your strength.
I don’t know all that I will face, and I anticipate the work to be hard. Yet, I give thanks and devote myself wholeheartedly to You and Your purposes. Your steadfast love endures forever. I trust You will carry me through whatever I encounter in new “land.”
You prepared me, Lord, and I am as ready as I can be. I thank You in advance, assured that You will provide whatever I lack as I need it. I rest in the assurance that You are with me every step of the way. In the name of Jesus Christ, who went before me. Amen.
