Pause. Pray. Read. Be still. Write. Pray.

April 29, 2024
Read: Psalm 32:8  I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go,  I will guide you with my eye.

Reflect: God’s prevenient grace means God is wooing us into relationship – when we have accepted this grace, and turned from our ways to follow God, we experience God’s justifying grace – we are aligned with God and moving on toward sanctification onto what John Wesley calls Christian perfection. While these terms of grace may seem a bit mysterious, it does not make them untrue.

Most people don’t understand the ins and outs of the flow of electricity, but we know it lights up the cities, the streets, and our homes. Many of us don’t understand the fine details of what animals think but if you have a dog or a cat, you know they do understand you and have their own way of communicating with you.

When we begin a faith journey or even as we enter a new season of our journey, we don’t have to fully understand the shift, because we accept by faith that God’s mysterious grace through Jesus Christ is at work and is guiding us.

We are beloved children of God. We receive a gift that costs us nothing. God breathes new life and a new way of living into the seasons of our soul. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit God makes a home in our hearts, always working, churning, and calling us to new things over and over with each news season of life, and for this, we give thanks.

Be still: Do you find you find yourself in a new season of life? What do you find is different? Can you celebrate the gift of a new opportunity, or do you feel uncertain?

No matter what season you find yourself in today, I encourage you to sit in God’s presence and trust that God is showing you the way to go.

Pray: Holy God of grace and love, thank you, for the seasons of life and faith and for your promise to always guide us. Open our hearts and ears to accept change and to know you would not steer us down the wrong path. Amen.

Together,
we are held,
in God’s love.
