God Promises
And after you have suffered for a little while,
the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ,
will himself restore, support, strengthen, and establish you.
1 Peter 5:10, ESV
“God is good even when our circumstances are not.”
The quote was written by an author-friend who is experiencing an extended season of challenges, from emergency surgery followed by complications and treatment side effects to a negative biopsy report to persistent tiredness, all while trying to meet publisher deadlines for her newest book launch. Yet, despite all this, she continues to remain strong in her faith and stand on God’s promises.
God has never and will never break His promises to us. Here are few on which we can always stand:
Ephesians 6:11 God stands with us against forces trying to crush us.
Isaiah 40:31 He strengthens us when we are weak.
Revelation 21:4 He wipes away our tears.
Exodus 14:14 He fights our battles.
Jeremiah 29:11 He’s got plans for us.
Deuteronomy 31:6 God goes with us, never leaving our side.
No matter what hurdles await us now or in the future, we can attest to the truth Joshua shared with the chosen people, You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.
In Christ every one of God’s promises is a “Yes” (2 Corinthians 1:20). Not one will fail.
Reflect: Which of God’s promises do you most need to remember and stand on today?
Pray: Good and Faithful God, I stand on Your promises as beacons of hope in the midst of adversity. Today, I lift up all who face a season of challenges. Despite their trials, strengthen them to stand anchored in Your unfailing promises. Increase their sense of Your continued presence and provide them with Your comfort and healing.
Lord, May Your Word be a source of encouragement and reassurance to us all. Help me stand firm on Your promises, to remember they never fail. In the name of Jesus, my Savior, Amen.
By His Grace,
