Day 4
For I know the plans I have for you,
declares the Lord,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11, NRSV
Hope for Deliverance
We made the decision in the middle of April 2020 to get married and move to Texas. We could only hope we were making the right decisions. We got married on May 27th and left for Texas on June 2nd. These were major decisions, and we did not have a lot of time to think about them.
God had part in all of this when the perfect house came up for sale in April. The house was just what we wanted, and right next door to my daughter, Katie. I’ve always had God in my life, so trusting the unknown to Him was something familiar. We said a prayer, and hoped we made the best decision.
We knew that because everything came together in one short month’s time, our moving was a “God thing.”
Hope that we were doing the right thing certainly played a part in everything that happened, but a bigger part of the equation was trusting in God.
Reflect: Can you think of a time when you had to rely on hope that God directed the outcome of your decision? What was the outcome?
Pray: God, I thank You that because I know Jesus, I have hope, and I can look to the future with assurance in everything I do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
