Walking Through the Detours
Don’t be obsessed with getting more material things.
Be relaxed with what you have.
Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,”…
Hebrews 13:5, Message
According to researchers, the Scriptures contain 7000+ promises from God to us. Today’s verse is the one we frequent the most in times of stress, uncertainty, and change.
Influential preacher and theologian Charles Spurgeon wrote:
If you have to change your position in life, if you have to emigrate to another country [community], if it should happen that you are poverty-stricken or suddenly promoted to a more responsible position…, if you are thrown among strangers or cast among foes, don’t tremble, for “the Lord will guide you continually (Isaiah 58:11).”
There are no dilemmas out of which you will not be delivered if you live near to God and your heart is kept warm with holy love…Like Enoch, walk with God, and you cannot miss your road. You have infallible wisdom to direct you, unchangeable love to comfort you, and eternal power to defend you.*
All because the Lord assures us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you.”
Reflect: How do Spurgeon’s words lead you to respond when you face moments of change, uncertainty, or challenge? How can you today draw closer to God and trust in His promise to guide and never leave you?
Pray: Faithful God, thank You for the countless promises in Your Word that remind me of Your unchanging love and guidance. In times of uncertainty, help me to cling to Your truth and rest in Your presence. Strengthen my faith to trust that You are always with me, directing my steps and surrounding me with Your care. Let my heart remain steadfast in Your promises, and may I walk with You daily, knowing You will never leave me nor forsake me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
