Pause. Pray. Read. Be still. Write. Pray. Go about your day or turn in for the night.

Read: Titus 1:5-16

Titus was another protégé of Paul. He was a Greek leader chosen as an overseer of the churches on the island of Crete. Like Timothy, Titus traveled with and for Paul in 2 Corinthians; Galatians, and 2 Timothy, but his travels to Crete were different, Titus most certainly had his work cut out for him because false teaching had stirred up problems with confusing and misguided messages. The one thing necessary was to teach what is consistent using sound doctrine to aid in his fight against false teaching and to help believers get along with one another.

Be Still: This passage challenges us to examine our lives and strive for integrity and character in our leadership roles. Have you ever had to profess God’s love and grace when you’ve come up against misguided teaching that instilled harm and fear? Do you have a particular leadership style when it comes to speaking against false teachings? How do you address challenges because of confusing and misguided teachings?

Prayer: God of us all, I thank you for the wisdom and guidance found in your Word. Help me to be a leader who exemplifies character and values that represent your light in my life. May I also strive to be a person who is faithful, blameless, and committed to the teaching of Jesus that extends grace and love over fear and harm. Amen.
