Wednesday, November 29, 2023:
Pause. Pray. Read. Be still. Write. Pray. Go about your day or turn in for the night.
Read: John 5:19-24, 30,
Jesus opens with the words “Very truly” to signal the criticality of what he is about to say. In this passage, Jesus reveals the Father-Son relationship he shares with God and by whose authority he acts and judges. However, Jesus does not do his own thing but chooses to submit to his Father-God’s will. He imitates the Father. Therefore, if we want to know what God wants us to do, we need only look to how Jesus responded, taught, or acted.
Be still and Reflect: Is there a decision or direction you face today? To make the best choice, ask Jesus what he would have you do. Is there a scriptural passage or story he brings to mind to guide you?
Pray: Lord Jesus, thank you for modeling the way I should go. I entrust my life and future into your hands and seek to walk in your footsteps.
Father-God, as Your Son chose, help me to choose what You desire over all the lesser things that I might desire. Melt me, mold me, fill me, and send me. Use me according to Your purposes and plans. Let my future be Your preferred future for me. Amen.
