Pause. Pray. Read. Be still. Write. Pray. Go about your day or turn in for the night.
Read: Acts 11:15-18
Periodically my phone or laptop notifies me that I need to download a system upgrade that promises improved security protection and operational effectiveness.
Peter said, “I remembered Jesus’ words…” Reading and recalling what Jesus said is like receiving a spiritual “system upgrade.” We can be in the midst of a conversation or situation when the Holy Spirit “downloads” Jesus’ words or a scripture verse into our minds and hearts. Those words can transform our thinking to know what is good, acceptable, and perfect in God’s eyes. Listening to and obeying Jesus’ words and teachings bridges the gap between what is to what can be; between who we are to who God created us to be.
Be still and Reflect: Watch and stay alert to what words of Jesus the Holy Spirit “downloads on your mind or heart today…
- So that you think differently about a situation or conversation?
- How do His words turn you from your current heart’s affections to a new attitude?
- What do His words prompt you to do differently as you go about your day?
Pray: Come Holy Spirit. As I go about my day, remind me of Jesus’ life and words. Use them to transform my mind, heart, and soul to choose, love, and act according to what is good, acceptable, and perfect in Your eyes. Amen.
