Bridgeport Mid-Winter Youth Retreat
February 7 - 9
Prosper Youth exists to: create and provide an environment where ALL youth feel comfortable, allow them to be who God created them to be and open their hearts to what God has in store for them. We want to walk along students as they discover, develop and own their faith; experience God’s grace; and engage the community to share God’s love through study, service, and experience.
To create and provide an environment where ALL youth feel comfortable regardless of background (sex, gender, race, orientation, identity, etc), allow them to be who God created them to be and open their hearts to what God has in store for them. We want to walk along students as they discover, develop and own their faith; experience God’s grace; and engage the community to share God’s love through study, service, and experience.
9:45am
On Sunday mornings, this is our time for deeper Bible study. Broken up into small groups, this time is designed to figure out our questions behind scripture in a safe and nurturing environment. This space will also have spots where the youth can check-in on one another and grow closer.
Sundays, 9:45am, room 153
Confirmation refers to the decision a person makes to respond to God’s grace with intentional commitment, publicly reaffirming his or her baptismal vows before the congregation. Confirmands are youth in the 7th grade or above who learn about the meaning of Christian faith, the history and teachings of the United Methodist Church, and an explanation of the baptismal and membership vows they will be professing.
Registration is open for the new school year. Classes begin on Sept. 8th.
Sunday, 5pm, Youth Wing
On Sunday nights, all of our youth will be together. We will have dinner, go through a lesson and break into smaller groups by age (and if applicable, gender) to further discuss the lesson. We then will wrap up with a large group game, varying from intense to low intensity each week.
1st & 3rd Wednesdays, 5:00pm, Youth Big Room
6th graders ONLY! Join us midweek as we have some extra fellowship to get us through the first year of middle school!
Everything we do is about making disciples of Jesus Christ. In order to do that we are:
No matter how we teach the Bible, or what we are teaching, we want to support everything we do with our guiding text. The Bible has been used as a weapon for many years, so we seek to educate our students to have a healthy relationship with the Bible and how to educate their peers in this way as well.
We want youth to grow in their own discernment of their faith. We do not want them to simply regurgitate what we are teaching them but to think and ponder on what they are hearing. Our mission is successful when we have deep thinkers who yearn for conversation, not arguments, with others.
As opposed to program, or event centered. Think about the relationships Jesus formed with His disciples. Life was shared and conversations were had. There was real relationship. Jesus and His disciples shared life together.
Healthy discipleship is relationally centered but fully embraces the gift of community.
Creating opportunities for our students to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ and to serve outside of the walls of the church.
It is pretty simple if we are doing discipleship the right way, youth will begin to desire to draw other people in through their impacts in our context.
