Monday, December 25, 2023:
Pause. Pray. Read. Be still. Write. Pray. Go about your day or turn in for the night.
Read: Luke 1:46b-55
At her son’s birth, I wonder if Mary voiced once more this song of praise to God. Mary remembered His promise to her and the nation. She exalted Him as the Almighty who did great things for her and Israel. She glorified His holy name by bearing witness to His saving grace throughout history. Christ’s birth fulfilled God’s promise of compassion and mercy for His people forever, and Mary rejoiced in faith.
Be still and Reflect: Today, amidst gifts and celebrations, take a moment to think about the favor God has poured out on you, your family, and the church. Where have you seen His mercy extended in and around you? As you gather with family and friends, go around the circle, and share your best memory of His grace this year.
Pray:
Almighty God, my soul swells with Your greatness in the wonders of creation, in the events that defy explanation, and in transformed lives, including my own. I see Your power in the way needs are met, conflicts resolved, and a way forward is always provided.
Father-God, thank you for sending Your Son, Jesus, whose birth we celebrate today. In him is the fulfillment of all Your promises. In him is my love, hope, peace, and joy forever more. Thank you for the eternal victory I know will come through him. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
