Friday, October 6, 2023:
Pause. Pray. Read. Be still. Write. Pray. Go about your day or turn in for the night.
Read: Philippians 2:13-18
Be still and Reflect: Paul’s words reflect the interaction between divine grace and human agency. First, God works in us so that we can then work with Him. Our work is to continue God’s redemptive purposes by shining the light of Christ into a lost and hurting world.
Pray: Father-God, You are the One who is at work within me, causing me to desire and act in concert with Your kingdom purposes. Your Word is life to me. Your Spirit within me reminds me of the way I should go. You enable my skills and power my hands. You are my portion, all that I need.
Whatever comes my way, I listen for Your whisper. Empower me to do all things without grumbling or arguing. Fill my words with praise for You. Let the work of my hands show Your glory. May the kindness and compassion I show others reflect the unconditional love You have for us. Then and only then, will I not labor in vain yet become a beacon of light that pokes holes in the darkness. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
