Wednesday, December 20, 2023:
Pause. Pray. Read. Be still. Write. Pray. Go about your day or turn in for the night.
Read: Mark 9:9-13
The disciples bombarded Jesus with a flurry of questions after witnessing his glory on the Mountain of Transfiguration. What they witnessed and heard contradicted what they wanted and expected in the Messiah. They still needed to see what messiahship meant from God’s perspective. The disciples had yet to learn and understand what following the Messiah meant to their lives forevermore.
Be still and Reflect: How has following Christ as your Savior/Messiah and Lord changed your life and affected how you live it?
Pray: Heavenly Father, as I consider what you’ve done for me by sending Jesus, his death on the cross, and the resurrection, I can scarcely take it in. Help me to see with clarity what You want to do in and through my life today. Help me to hold loosely, or lay aside if needed, my expectations and how I want things to turn out. Instead, let Your will be done, Your name glorified, and Your final kingdom to come a little closer. By the power of Your Holy Spirit in Jesus Christ, Amen.
